Where do you want to be in the future? Where are you now?

Throughout our lives we’re presented with opportunities and choices. Decisions we make today will impact the direction our lives will take tomorrow.

Many of us have experienced the bitter taste of regret. ‘If only I had acted sooner…’ Procrastination can be your worst enemy. This is especially true when it comes to planning your financial future. The earlier you start to save and develop your financial plan, the better.

While we all want financial security and independence, many of us are unsure how to take control and achieve it.

Where do I want to be?
You may have short-term goals such as buying a new car, planning that special holiday or simply starting a savings plan. You may also have long-term goals such as paying off your mortgage or planning for retirement.

Whatever your goals, there’s no better time to start saving than today. The earlier you start, the less you’ll need to set aside each week and the more you’ll generate in the long term.

Where am I now?
To identify your current financial position, you need to work out:

  • how much you earn (Income);
  • how much you spend (Expenses); and consequently
  • how much you can save (Potential savings).

Try our Budget Planner Calculator

To increase your savings, you need to either earn more or spend less.

In the short term, reducing your expenses is far easier than increasing your income. While there’s no need to go to extremes, there may be some areas in which you can reduce the amount you spend.
